I’m just starting all sorts of WIP topics… and they’re all related to the very same thing! insane laughter
Here’s a test animation of rain, with splashing effects, on the road model I am working on. I also filled the pothole with water and reflected the sky… http://www.iamsane.com/soren/animation/psycho_rain.mov (about 700 kb)
Looks great. I love the clouds. The rain looks good too.
1 thing I noticed:
The crack almost looks like some kind of plantation like a vein. It looks like it could use a bit of reshaping. Try using pictures of actual road cracks to see how they look.
Looks sweet so far. The only thing that bothers me is that the scene seems to be too bright…Maybe darken the scene by tweaking the lighting? other than that, it looks awesome!
I agree that my cracks aren’t the best in the world of realism… hehe… you can see that they’ve gotten similar comments in another topic in the WIP forum. I’ll try to work on them some more, of course. I could darken the scene up a bit, too, yeah!
How many people really want a rain tutorial from me anyway?
I would love a rain mini-tut, the particles never work for me!
Anyway, I think the atmosphere is excellent, I just loved the Fugue trailer. I like both pictures in different ways: the fog in the first is just excellent. And the second one has that deep contrast, just like film noir (I love noir style BTW). I think that the cracks look a bit too 2D, I think they should have a varying depth and perhaps a tad of bevel, but the basic idea looks good.
in the first pic, the crack does not look very good, looks like it’s been painted onto the road surface, needs some depth. and the puddle looks like a lump of grey plastic.
In the second pic, the crack looks great. the puddle still looks like a lunmp of, well… something… not sure what. but not very puddle-ish.
the atmosphere in the second picture is very powerful, and gloomy and depressing. Very well done!
let’s see more!
