I’ve been getting all of my stuff ready to go to school. This week decided on Full Sail in FL for Computer Animation. Was wondering if there are any other Blender heads out there who have graduated or are considering going. Thanks!

I myself am a Mechanical Engineer and currently in sales for the last 8 years, so no plans for me to go back to school.
Good luck with your studies though and keep coming by to show us your stuff.

I considered going there, but it isn’t a full degree program. It’s more of a trade school. So I’m at University of Maryland Baltimore County which also has a good animation/visual reasearch department.
I’ve heard some bad stuff about Full Sail over at CGTalk.com, you should read some of the posts there on it…

I have read several books on 3d
that recommend schools,
and looked at alot of schools.
The German FIlm School seems to
be the best, if you have money,
and the initiave to learn German.
In America, Texas A&M is the one
I am going to go to. It has all sorts
of other things too, because it is a
full blow college.
They also have a very good 3d class.
The important thing would be to
take an art class, then go on to
a 3d class, or even seperate school.
You need the basics before you go on
to specifics…

That’s one reason why not many people experienced in the field like places like Fullsail. They only teach a certain piece of software, without teaching you about art itself. They churn out a ton of graduates who know nothing but what certain buttons in certain applications do. This isn’t to say it is terrible or anything, just that you have to learn all that stuff someplace else.
