Fur Combing Problems on Dog Sculpt

Dear Community,

I am a newbie to the particles system, and as I am trying to get the fur on my model even, there are always patches which seem messy. In other words I have a really hard time combing.
I will add the screenshots and would be really thankful if somebody could find the issue?
Is it supposed to be this hard or am I just stupid…? ^^’

PS: I hope my English skills didn’t bother you, I’m not native

Btw would love to add the file, but can’t due to being new to the plattform.

Also find combing not particularly easy. Some hints:

  • Use the right number of parent hairs. Too few and the interpolated hair algorithm gets lost at strong curving of the mesh. Too many and combing becomes tedious, to get than all aligned.
  • Do not use more hair segments than needed. Same reason, will be tedious to align them.

Thank you for your response!
But how do I get the fur fluffy if not with many hairs? Especially to not get the “stuffed out” puppy look.

And how do you properly align the hairs? Just with the comb tool, or are there other tools which can be helpful?

You add enough child hairs. Take just as many parents as needed to guide the flow, then add enough children to get it as dense as you like. Children also have the advantage to allow later tweaking with the Clump, Roughness, Kink settings.

Yes, other tools can help, too. Just try which ones you find helpful. I like ‘Puff’ to detangle hair.
