Fuselage heatwave test

Hello everyone!
The displace node in the upcoming v2.43 makes available a feature that I’ve long wanted to be able to achieve. And here it is! I grabbed a couple of models from the Battlestar Galactica blender models repository (thanks guys) that Blendernation wrote about and started working on them. It’s a quick and dirty test of the air mass distortion that a jet engine causes around it. It’s mostly textureless

Since the only moving thing in the scene is the particles that I used as a displacement factor, I only had to render the background scene once (very practical) and render the necessary frames only of the 5th layer, the particles. Then I fired up another scene to do the composition, as it is shown in the picture. I used a second input of the particle sequence for variation and for filling up the visual gaps.

Let me know what you think. It is for sure a very powerful node.
Next thing will be the invisible man. You can picture it, right?
