Trying to make mechanical objects.
I think that robot is a bit big too be a household appliance. You wouldn’t want a toaster nearly as big as you. lol
It does look nice though.
I want one in my kitchen!!! Good luck!
nice render, and nice robot material, but unless you reaaally want the effect, instead of using several spotlights lied up, just uns one blured one (looks a lot cleaner)
Thanks everyone!
I was lazy and downloaded the material from blender-materials.org. :^) It’s called Plastic surface.

My light setup consists of two area lights and a lamp, which I affectionately like to call Sky, Highlight and Filler. :^)
I did some tests turning on and off both lamps and shadows on all lamps:
All options on
No fill light shadow
No fill light
No highlight shadow
No highlight
No sky shadow
No sky
Only fill light
Only highlight
Only sky
I use all three out of old habit because I think it gives nice tones in the picture. It’s good to question old habits, but I’m not sure it’s better to use just one lamp. The shadows get darker than a black steer’s tookus on a moonless prairie night. ;^)
Though I’m open to suggestions to improve the setup in other ways.
After about a year of procrastination, I’m finally beginning to overcome my fear of rigging! Yay! :^)
