I am new to Blender, so please excuse me if the questions are too trivial.
I want display transparent metaballs and create a “game” where I can rotate several objects at the same time.
For the first issue, I found out that I need to convert the metaball to a mesh. Otherwise I saw the transparent metaball in the rendered image but not in the game. The conversion worked, now I see the metaball in the game. But it is not transparent. I found several posts concerning this problem in the internet. It said that I have to add a Texture with Alpha. I did that but it changed nothing, so probably I have done something wrong. I would be very grateful if someone could tell me exactly which buttons to press in which order to do it right.
My second issue is not so important, but it would be still nice to get a solution for that. I would like to move several objects at one time. Of course I could add the same animation to each object, but I guess that I can group them and to the animation for the group. I do not find how to do this.
go into edit mode -> unwrap <u> -> in the editbutton find the texture face settings -> enable Alpha + copy (to the other faces).
now you can apply a transparent texture or a transparent material.
Motion:
Simply parent the object to one that performs the motion.
There are no groups in th BGE. But you can use doupligroup to create douplicates. After creation the group is gone, the objects remain.
Thanks, Monster. Still, the Alpha thing does not work. I did the unwrap, enabled Alpha in the texture face settings and pressed the copy button. You wrote “now you can apply a transparent texture or a transparent material.” - but how can I do this?
Sorry for asking again, but I still have the same problem. I used your second possibility, but the alpha value does not change anything (when rendering the image with ZTransparency activated for the material everything works well). My impression is that this is somehow due to light in game mode. Could it be that I have to activate it somewhere? Shadow etc. do not appear in game mode, too.
And on the other hand, without ZTranparency it does not work with rendering too - so why should it in game mode?
