This is a really noob question. I made a game once and got it to use the textures in the game. That was a while ago and now im making another and can not remember how i got it to use the materials instead of the “Col” while in the game engine. Any help would be much appriciated.
Check that you have ‘Use Blender Materials’ enabled in Game menu. Then add textures in the Texture buttons (F6). Go back to Material buttons (F5) and choose texture projection mode (Map input). Usually you have to UV-map textures (in UV editor) if you want them to show correctly.
Alternatively you could disable ‘Use Blender Materials’ and start UV-mapping in UV/Image Editor without assigning materials, but then you couldn’t use shaders.
