Around 2000 triangle game model. My first try at painting all textures myself. Original texture size is 1024x1024. First try at serius uv unwrapping too, that’s why the texture map looks so weird.
Tell me what you think.

texture look fine to me
the result is fair enough
We can see all the attention you had for details on the uv-map you painted… Which tool(s) did you used?

For a second there I thought this was from an actual game, good job!
What did you use to unwrap it?

Very nice texture! I think it would add a lot to the depth of the screws, if you painted some highlights and shadows on the screw heads.
Isn’t 2000 tris a lot for a revolver, even these days?
looks like the bullets are facing the wrong way. make them just gold circles, thats what they look like from the back

Model and uv unwrapping is done completely in Blender. Textures painted in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet.

The model is going to a US civil war mod, probably for Half-Life 2. I hope they get the mod done.

I tried to paint some highlites and shadows, they show a bit better in opengl view. The renders came out a bit overexposed. I think 2000 tris is ok in new games. Half Life 2 is said to support weapon models up to 5000 tris.

Hehe you think after making a model that detailed I’d accidentally model the bullets the wrong way? If you know nothing about revolvers why do you write replies like that? This model of colt is so old, that it doesn’t use metal cartridges. The “bullets” you are referring to are kinda fuses (called nipples actually), which are delivering the hammer hit and making the spark to light the gunpowder.
The texturing is great for a game model. Even for a more high poly model, it’s still great.
Well done.

Very nice, especially for a game model.
I haven’t seen many models this nice in a lot of games, and those are all professionally made with million dollar budgets.
Good Job!
It looks like the player will have to put it together … or be killed if they are not quick enough
Great job.
Nice model. I usually don’t comment on game-based stuff, but I like your attention to detail and the subject matter.
