When exporting a building game model, should I make doors and windows into separate objects that are parented and have the origin at the hinge, or should I use bones?
This depends on how you might want (or have) to animate those in the game engine. Maybe doing an animation and import this into the game engine is overkill for a simple door but be simpler for a fully animated mechanical big sized lock with rotating gears and all…
I intend to sell this model, so I need to know which one game devs would generally prefer. Its only a simple door, which rotates on the Z axis to open
So if you want to sell it as: game ready… then you should familiarize with some game engine workflows and maybe even do different versions. There are multiple forums for different game engines where thsi question might be better answered.
Or simply sell it as is ?
