Games & Tutorials (updated Jan 5, 2011)

you can get my on-screen position script from here:

http://cursomanga.f2o.org/onscreenscr.zip

it will return the x and y coords of any object, as seen from the camera view.

updated again. Not much, but I’m here, if anyone has anything they’d like on the list, just post it.

You can remove me from the list. Im currently working on my new homepage.

blengine: The games in the christmas contest link don’t work. Probably because the thread is from 2003.

As I browsed trought the list, a bunch of things don’t work, are moved or aren’t updated. I don’t know what happened to Blengine but he seams to be off Elysiun and Blender for a long time.

Since I’m working quiet hard to make a gameblender learning content website, I’m willing to update this topic, by redoing the complete list of tutorials, sources, games, websites and much more, does everyone agree with this idea? I’m also willing to put back some backups I did around the time this topic was created. :stuck_out_tongue:

Right now I’m also making a GameBlender faq archive, in some kind of way the same idea as B@rt did with the general blender faq php script. I also started to list the faq qeustions a little, remove, update and such to the current state of blender. A sneak peak can be viewed at: http://212.123.169.51/css_br_php/faq_list.php

were can i get the fancy monkey island demo?

Hack and Slash http://hack-and-slash.sf.net is an LGPL blender game that can also be useful for learning how to do some interesting things:

  • support for up to 6 players with keyboard, mouse and game controllers
  • character movement relative to view (instead of character’s local axis)
  • GUI with highlighted menu options using mouse, keyboard or joystick.
  • more correct halo and billboard effects than the built-in effects.
  • camera moves to fit all the players on the screen.
  • pygame (used for game controllers)
  • configurable controls
  • … and more stuff being developed

Ok, seriously… I’m supposed to learn the Game Engine with what is given here?
GOOD GOD!!
Someone bring some order to the chaos PLEASE!

I’ve downloaded and saved all the pages that I could find on this thread that dealt with the game engine. But after just looking through them I know I’m going to have a hard time figuring this out!
If there is anyplace out there with a step by step for idiots tutorials please let me know!

But don’t get me wrong, I thank everyone who contributed tutorials but honestly… I have no idea how any learned the Game Engine with these!
This is one of my main reasons I stuck to just Modelling and Rendering and Animating. But I have to learn to Game Engine now… I want to see and prove the power and potential it has… I just have no idea how I’m going to do that when my brain is going to be turning off every few minutes after going through these scattered tutoorials! lol

So anyone know of a secret game engine tutorial repository?

blafenking:

The monkey island demo is in page 1 of this massive thread.

Unfortunately a lot of the games don’t play very well,
partly due to changes in the game engine.
I never got Monkey Island to play properly but I liked it because it showed what is possible.

I got some very simple demo’s at blenderman.org website, I’m sure alot of them will give you some examples what’s possable.

Thanks Al, %|
I wasn’t asking for any.

Edit: Sorry Al-Capone, It was past my bedtime.

Who said it was for you ?

There’s a little something called the blender game kit. You can buy it at the blender online store. That book pieces a lot of things together to form a concise start to using the game engine. If you don’t want to spend the money and have time, just piece together everything you find and just play around with the game engine.
