the image to 3d model AIs got pretty good but there is still a significant difference between the influence / control you have doing it by hand vs what the AI model makes with the 1 to 5 reference images you feed it.
for fill objects that to be honest is maybe faster to AI it. For focus objects obviously not - also because of all the imperfections those models add …
not replying to you…just to take your video as hook to reply to a user that doesn’t want to be pinged by me on this matter…but when I wrote that AI is a tool to reduce the job opportunity increasing the productivity…or at parity of job positions is increasing the productivity so increase the work done by a single worker…well I was replied “you don’t know how production works”.
Ok…seems that in China AI is reducing budgets and people involved…reducing the timeline to have the final product and ask to real people to do more jobs than before…(sarcasm on) oooooohh.. unbelieveable…(sarcasm off)
It is quite interesting because this is also from China and not a person in Hollywood complaining.
I was never convinced that AI would not have a negative impact on the job market since I think that specifically for low level mass produced work it will have an impact - which this video illustrates.
For the work I do or teach - AI will be a side note only.

I’m not sure what the takeaway is supposed to be. What, there are no entry level or assistant jobs anymore?
The mere idea of people literally delegating everything they do to a service operated and owned by one of the least trustworthy organizations on planet Earth is mind boggling.
This is exactly the saddest and most disturbing fact about this AI-(fuck)-craziness we’re living: too many people (happily) do it, they delegate EVERYTHING to those 2-3 coorps owning AI .. and.. … the purpose ? How can you trust someone interested only in your data and in how making money from them ?
Even worse: these companies have demonstrated already how they give a sh*t on intellectual property. This is how they built the services they’re selling now.
They will use every single bit of information shared, to use it against the ones who shared it with them the other day.
I think they are selling the feeling of self-importance.
You can see it sometimes in wannabe businessmen (or indie game-devs) who romanticize the idea of making Bold Decisions and going on Important Meetings, while their personal assistant deals with the boring everyday stuff. The only problem is they skip the part where they have to build a big successful enough business to justify the life-style.
They want to feel like Tony Stark without the blood, sweat and brainpower required
I think it’s telling that, after all this time, marketing still struggles to show reasonable use-cases to sell the tech to the masses. It’s just sad to look at.
Only the amount of data centers is truly a new different dimension. That is fully correct.
But the the tendency of users to throw their life’s content to social media, influencer being a job, and the smartphone pose when people walk, is not really new at all - which means the profit is made by a few companies like Meta Google etc.
What would be really interesting is to see how long a professional coder would need to rebuild this from scratch and how much shorter the code base would be.
While the code works - it to me does not say anything about the code quality.
But then Blender is around 940 MB while SketchUp is 2.4 GB while hardly having any tools …
