i’m having big troubles, none of the clips in the sequence editor show up in the render! all i get is a black video. i have the “do sequence” button pressed, and both the video clips im working with havent been touched, except for playing them. it was working fine before… and i’m dumbfounded as to why it refuses to now. even more peculiar, when i made a new file and rendered a clip of the video, it worked fine, but if i try to render the same video in the file i’ve been working with, it still renders a black video… if that makes any sense. the only changes i have made are to copy and move around some clips, and add 1 effect.
different blend file, same video (file, not the same number of clips, effects, movement, ect), works fine. 2.28c and 2.3p
same blend file, same video (with all clips and effects, ect), renders black screen. 2.28c and 2.3p
if you can make any sense of what i just said, do you have any ideas as to what’s going on? i’ve tried as much as i can think of (which isnt much… :-? )
Sorry to double post this message, but i have school all week and the project needs to be done by wednesday, so you can see my predicament is pretty severe.
I don’t have much of an answer, but one thing to try: It is easy to have problems when using effects. Leave everything as you have it, but remove the effect and see if it works. If it does, then the problem should be fairly easy to work out. If not, then I don’t know what the problem is, maybe someone else who knows the sequence editor can help you.
here’s the .blend. im not able to send the movies, seeing as i am on a dial up connection and they weigh in at around 17 gigabytes, but im pretty sure they are not the problem. i hope this helps.
ok, first of all it doesnt help much only having the blend, cause i get a black screen as well
i think the promblem might be that blender can only do 18000 frames per animation, so maybe use some real video editing stuff, or split it into 2 or 3 different bits.
after recreating the sequence in a new file, i have become even more confused.
I recreated, then saved the file, and rendered. when i came back, it had rendered fine. but when i opened the file and tried to render the next 18000 frames, i got more black movies! i closed, then reopened the file (no save, so the file should be in the same state it was before it worked, right?) and tried to re-render the first 18000 frames, it rendered those frames also!
does anyone have a clue as to what’s going on? perhaps a bug in the saving? or am i just doing something wrong?
i’ve conducted a lot more tests, and im sure now that it’s a bug in the save process of some sort. as long as the same instance of blender is open, everything works normally, but once the file is saved, blender is restarted and the file reloaded, THEN the black frames come about.
