Getting GPU rendering to work

Ok, I have a 2009 Mac Pro 8 core, 2.26ghz, with Quadro 4000 video card. Ive been pulling my hair out trying to get GPU rendering to work for me. Ive downloaded and installed CUDA 5.0 from Nvidia’s website. Installed that. I still get the “CUDA Compilation failed” error message, when I try to render.

So Ive been following the steps on this site
http://docs.nvidia.com/cuda/cuda-getting-started-guide-for-mac-os-x/index.html#running-binaries__valid-results-sample-cuda-deviceQuery

Everything goes as they say, until I get to this step

When I get to the following step

“The version of the CUDA Toolkit can be checked by running nvcc -V in a terminal window. The nvcc command runs the compiler driver that compiles CUDA programs. It calls the gcc compiler for C code and the NVIDIA PTX compiler for the CUDA code.”

When I type nvcc -V in the terminal window, it tells me command not found. Prior to this, before installing, it says to verify that gcc is installed by entering the command /usr/bin/gg --help. When I do this, it gives me a list of commands. So I am assuming that means it is installed. None the less, when I type the command nvcc -V, I get command not found.

Am I even on the correct path? My GPU works just fine in Premier Pro and After Effects, so I know its installed and working. I had read in another forum I had to install all these developer tools to get this to work.

Can anyone point me in the correct direction,

Thank you,
Jeff
