Getting Models Created In Blender into Divine Divinity Original Sin II

I’ve had a lot of fun making mods for games like Oblivion. Now I am considering making mods for DDOS II. However, I’m not sure I can create mods with new 3D content created with Blender. The models in DDOS II were created with Maya. I only have Blender and Modo. I’ve read what content I could find online, but saw no information on importing 3D assets created in anything other than Maya. Has anyone created a mod for DDOS II that includes 3D models (animated or not) created in Blender?

There is a steep learning curve to create complex mods for any new game engine. I don’t want to go through that if I won’t be able to import 3D content.

It seems DDOS2 mods don’t use / convert from an intermediate format such as dae fbx etc, rather the Maya plugin exports directly. Larian claims a Blender exporter was in progress months ago, no word since.
