I have one “character” that’s composed of different meshes (I understand this might be weird, If you need explanation on why I’m doing this, see below). At the points where the meshes meet, I’d like the vertex normals to be identical, but they aren’t.
I’ve attached three images:
One shows the upper-body mesh and it’s normals.
The other shows the lower body mesh and it’s normals.
These two images show that the vertex-normals aren’t identical at the seam (where the two mesh objects meet). This causes a discontinuity in the mesh, which shows up in rendering (in the third attached picture).
Is there any way I can fix this?

So, why am I doing this and not just using a single mesh? It’s because I’m trying to use this character as a ‘character customization’ model in a video game. I’d like to be able to swap out different meshes in order to allow different clothing options. I’m not sure if this is the best plan of attack, but it’s what I’m experimenting with and I’d like to see if I can get it working!
Thanks!
