I’m working on a Gibson SG right now. I think including this one I’ll have made eleven guitars since the beginning of June. Anyway, here’s what I have so far; it took me a while to get the edges beveled properly, but I finally got it.
nice! can I see a wireframe please? I’m interested in how you modelled the edges…
Here’s a wire view. Basically, I modeled around the bigger portion (the middle section; the part that’s not beveled), then extruded the top and moved each vertex around to fit the bevel curve. I’m not sure if that makes much sense; I might be able to make a quick video of it or something.

Wow, I haven’t updated this in a while. Anyway, here’s the latest update; I switched over to 2.5 alpha for the rest of the project. I meant to start it in there, but I instinctively clicked on 2.49, and it didn’t occur to me until later that I had wanted to do this in 2.5.

That’s looking pretty nice
Thank you! A major step up from last time, here’s the textured guitar. Any ideas for a scene to put it in would be nice. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vfkyomEnc-E/TEcfm4EIRvI/AAAAAAAAAHk/dle1Yfm15h4/s1600/GibsonSG.jpg
I changed a few things. For those who want to know, I sharpened the fretboard, I aligned the dirt on the fretboard with the frets, I changed a few material colors and values, and adjusted the rotation angle. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vfkyomEnc-E/TEdLqwtGqmI/AAAAAAAAAHs/3XkPC_vpxKg/s1600/SGGibsonTwo.jpg
Add a white shadeless circle above the guitar, and pull up the Ray Mirror value on the guitar to 0.2. That will make an OK glossy material.
