Looks much nicer, those new credits
(altough they’ve still got that ugly image in it, the startup image would be nicer instead)
And wow, that win32 installer works great now, never happened for me.
Still very crashy though (just like on Linux), but at least it isn’t slow on my win32 system anymore.
That’s it?!
I remember one of the development guys saying GIMP 2.0 would be the most advanced image editting program on the planet when it came out. Sounds like they missed the bar!
GIMP development is a joke compared to Blender’s. There are so many issues with GIMP’s basic useability yet they spend their time coding $h!t like script fu support! The world needs a better opensource image editor, maybe the community should have a fund raiser and buy the source to Paintshop Pro…

That is of course the list of new stuff since the last development release. Check the NEWS file for a complete list (which is considerably larger).
I’m working on an outline document of the new features. The WIP version is at http://jimmac.musichall.cz/stuff/private/gimp-2/html/index.xhtml
That’s you?! Cool, I read that list a week or so ago. Nice article, but in my mind it only underscores the things that the GIMP is still missing.
Just installed it. Lo and behold! My tablet finally works with GIMP for Windows! It’s about time too! I mean for a “PhotoShop competitor” that’s a pretty lame bug to let go for so long. Not to mention the still too frequent crashing.
The GIMP is a great idea full of potential but it was a mistake to let it go for so long with so many bugs and virtually no Windows support. Maybe the Windows version was just an after-thought but it’s time for that to end! This new version does seem to be an improvement, but I just hope the developers are planning to keep it up and prioritize fixing those bugs, 'cause it would be a shame to see the GIMP project founder for lack of support. They would do well to take some notes on the BF’s model.
