Hey everybody,I just wanted to ask if GIMP is sufficient for texture creation or should I just go with photoshop.And if GIMP is sufficient then can anybody point me to some texture creation tutorials for GIMP.
Gimp is extremely capable and is a fine tool for texture creation…
for making tiling textures there’s the “make seamless” filter…
also you should check out the perspective tool in “corrective” mode to remove perspective and make your photo more orthographic…
use “layer”—> offset to make your texture wrap a bit… It makes it very easy to see how badly it’s tiling and you can fix it with teh clonestamp tool…
check outthis site…… the tutorials section is quite good. Most things that you can do in photoshop you can do in the Gimp… there may be a few differences here and there so just ask if you need more specifics…
