GIMP JPEG 2000 support

Has anyone had any success with JPEG 2000 support in the GIMP? I would really like to be able to store clipping paths in my jpegs.

Ideally I would like to be able to do this directly from Blender too…I wonder if that will ever be possible?

I see what it’s supposed to do, but I myself would like openexr support in gimp before this format. If I’m reading this correctly, the exif data is still not fully supported?
Interesting topic, though, and I hope someone with better insight drops a line here.
