Gimp

I am doing a logo for my church and I need to know how to wash out behind my text, a logo, I can’t figure it out. It’s a military symbol, I want it partially alpha though. Some help please.

Use two layers (Layers panel>>New Layer…fill type transparent), one with the text and another one with the symbol. Place the symbol UNDER the text layer (and over the background layer). To make the logo transparent, decrease its layer’s opacity (in the Layers panel).

By the way, may I ask why a church logo has a military symbol?

Thanks, and it has a military symbol because the church is very near a military base and we have many family and friends that are in Iraq, so we are honoring them by incorporating their logo. Thanks again!

You’re welcome. And I hope the logo for the military base doesn’t have a gun or something like that, 'cause that would make the church look bad

Post the logo when you’re done, I wanna see it.

Thanks again! http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/4527/logo3wg.jpg
Btw, this probably isn’t the final version.
