“The demand for an answer, with no time to gauge, from anyone else but her kind of told me everything I needed to know. In the eye of that storm she told me what you would have a year ago. She told me that she knew me and that I would need time to decide, because I don’t do these things quickly. You would have told me that. You used to know me like that. I don’t think you should have seen my perspective or that you should have been clear-headed. But at the very least you should have remembered some cornerstone of me.”
