You mean transparency?
Just make the object’s faces into Alpha-textured faces in Face Select. If you have a texture, it needs an alpha channel. If you don’t need a texture, then give the object RGBA IPO keys. The transparency of the object will be controlled by the Alpha curve.

He said that you UVmap you glass object with a texture that has an alpha channel (that’d be the ‘A’ in ‘RGBA’. Tga format and .png can each record the degree of transparency in that channel.
Then, in the Edit buttons, Texture face panel, while in face select mode, you select every face you want somewhat transparent, check Alpha button to set the active face so it will take the value of the alpha channel into account and click CopyDrawMode button so the other selected faces will too.
