a few months ago i started doing a robot but it didn’t look well . today i opened the blend file and for some reasons i changed it’s material to clear glass and added a photon lamp . the result is very interesting . please give your comments and your advices on everything that you don’t like
Good start. You can increase the depth at the IOR settings, to get rid of the black spots. But I think it will be hard to see the shape. The background is not very clear, read some yafray/photon tutorial somewhere at this forum, to get sharp caustics. Cya BackiZ
also verry inportant to get your shape more clear: a background, a bacground helps so much to outline your glass !
sfmanga,
Your going to have to turn up OSA(at least 5) to get rid of the steps on the image, and the lighting need some work. The hemi lights by them self work somtimes but since you placed it in a enviroment you might want to add more lights to get more depth and contrast.Dont blow out your highlights in the image, or add longer render times by adding more lights, but adjust about 3 of them to were its not to dark an not too bright. And if its too dark with 3 lights, turn up your exponential color correction( in world settings). All this work good with AO with distances, and might work different with a Yafray render.
I’ve been liking your choice off models BTW
looking better, ubnfortaniatly you need mroe ray depth
(that’s where the black comes from)
He doesn’t look glass so much as cloaked, i.e. Predator. Could just be me though.
Cinephile : i don’t know why it looks like a cloaked predator to you,i am using blender 2.37 and in the material tab i selected clear glass so i think that the material is ok
i increased the raydepth to 10 and added some details
what do you think ?
okay, first: Everything looks nice overall
second, a few problems: the robot itself is good, but some of the other objects in the scene lack in detail, which makes the cool robot look out of place.
third: with a little more work, and some beveling, i think it would be sweet.
