i can’t stop the glass of a desk i’m working on from casting a shadow
Try hitting the TranShad button to cast a transparent shadow (based on the alpha of the glass. Or you can uncheck Tracable to stop shadowing. You will then have to use ZTrans to have transperancy.
maybe you can try
to put the lightsource on an other layer than the object that receives the shadow
(i’m pretty new to blender, so i don’t know if i’m right)
I think what you are looking for is the TraShadow button in the materials panel.
turn this on for the material of the object receiving the shadow and it will look more natural
or maybe post a render so we can see exactly what you are describing
