Gnome Application Launcher - .blanguages not found

I am using Fedora Core 3, with GNOME as my desktop. After recently downloading the latest tarball of Blender and extracting it to my home directory using the terminal it launches fine from the folder it extracted to my home directory (with no missing blanugages error), but not from the application launcher I created on my GNOME desktop.

After reading similar posts I copied to /.blender file to my home directory I am still getting this error from my GNOME application launcher,

I think the problem must be to do with giving the application launcher a lack of information. Does anyone concur? Does anyone of a solution to this error launching the program as a shortcut in this way?

Thanks for your time have a great new year …
