Gnome home

I wanted to work more with Eevee, because of the speed. Trying to solve all kinds of issues while working with Eevee (shadows, glass, focus, transparency, etc.) It is so easy to switch back to Cycles. But I want to focus on animation and render times are important.

So this is my Eevee Gnome home project.

In the night version, I discovered some light bleeding issues. Not sure where they came from.

That’s it, have fun and go render something.

Nice. But it s strange idea to put a lamp in front of a window. Sure he ll light it on before going to bed.

It’s really creative I really like it.

I would say to look at photos of A. muscaria (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanita_muscaria) and make the spots less cartoony or at least with sharper edges. The blueberries also draw too much attention. Does it make sense to have them propped up? I would lay the basket flat on the ground and move it to the left a little. Maybe make the basket a darker color or less shiny smooth. With those little things… awesome!

3D Arts is difficult at all levels. Goal was to use Eevee and not to rely on images (textures). Trying to create a more cartoon look. And yes, I didn’t use any references. Except the ones in my head. And those weren’t real like examples, but more like the comic style of the Smurfs.

I understand your blueberry thoughts. I wanted to use there fire wood as a more logical story telling. But how to recognize small twigs. I think the red cap, is the drawing the attention. Not so much the berries. But I wanted the cap to give some reference on size.

This scene modeling ended because of my render times, went up to 5 min Eevee time. And texturing, lay-out work, nodes makes it then less fun. But I’m trying to make a small video clip.

Thank you, for your vision and reasoning. It helps me a lot.

I have to say this has really inspired me.

I would say try taking the spots off the mushroom and then you could desaturate the red like you say to not have it take all the attention. Even though you modeled it and all, maybe try a render without the berries and basket.

Would love to see a render with those suggestions.

Thanks, that’s really cool. I like it without the berries but with the first cap. How about you? The chimney and the flower windmill are neat. The green particles in front of the chimney now seem a bit high off the ground.

Edit: also looks like the door window changed
