I want to emphasize how important it is that everyone here should buy the the new 2.3 manual. Some points:
1.) You support the Foundation. Take a minute to think about how important Blender is for you, how much time you spend with it and so on. 40 $/€ is a joke compared to that.
2.) It is pointless to rant about those who consider Blender as a joke application. If you think they`re wrong, prove it! Yes, I’m talking to you! Get that book and practice with it. You will naturally spend more time with practising because you have spent money for it.
3.) I would use Blender if it were only for the community. I have not participated in the first fund raising (that was before my time), but I now see a chance to prove again that no user is like a blender user.
4.) Don’t say that you can’t afford it. It’s not true. You know it.
I agree with you basse, I’ve got the same problem.
I’d like to support blender and I am by promoting it to as many people I know and to try to demonstrate that blender does have some powers.
By the way you do a great job at that Basse, love your recent game models and the annimations ar simply hilarious.
I wonder how the game will look when it’s finnished.
OK, my point 4 was a bit provocative. Sorry Basse.
There are always exceptions to the rules, but I know so many people who complain that they can’t buy useful stuff while they sit in front of a 3 GHZ PC with a 500 € card, stuffing expensive junk food into them, smoking and drinking (with various degrees).
Even I, the guy who swore he’d never buy anythng online, ordered one. Blender has given me the opportunity to explore a world that I would otherwise be unable to, so I felt I had to give something back, and I’m really looking forward to getting my copy.
yep. and I have tried to get some 3d books to library, but the thing is, we have a certain system to order books. and this book (or any other 3d books, like those nice animation, rendering and lighting etc books) never come to our lists where we order. if we want to go around that list, we have to buy the book ourself (pay it out of our own money) and then ask library to “buy” it from me… you know… kind of hard to explain.
but, blender is quite well know inside helsinki libraries because of me doing LOT of graphics with it for our internal use… leaflets, posters, intranet, internet… that sort of stuff, so I could be able to advertise a bit that there is now a book available for this magical program now that they installed blender to some of those workstations too, we could have a manual for it… let’s see what can be done.
it didnt’ happen with the previous manual, but maybe time is right for this one
is the book strong enough to survive library use?
some of those glued paperback books nowadays break apart after 5-10 customers…
Yes i didnt take part in the first fundraising event because i was short of cash, now that i have been saving up, my order was one of the first.
I can understand how people think they cant afford it, and that is fair enough.
But i know that i can go without a few things, beer for a few weeks in order to afford the manual.
The only thing is i have to borrow my dads credit card to buy it because PayPal doesnt accept mine. Ah well i just hope he doesnt get grumpy and uptight like he sometimes does. :-?
I received my Official Guide for 2.0 a few days after the new book was announced. I’m going to have to wait a few months, probably until after the holidays, before I have any more money to spend.
I’m not complaining, the 2.0 Guide has a lot of useful information that still applies in 2.3.
