Good CD Burning Software for Ubuntu Linux?

EDIT: See post #11 (by me) below.

I do have a CD/RW drive but no software! (So it seems:cool:)

I had CDBurner XP Pro burning utility which was recommended by Kim Komando.

However, I’m having some stability issues; as I can’t access System Restore for some reason to make a restore point, and I can’t reinstall CDBurner XP Pro.

So either;

  1. I have to find another burning program

  2. Go back to an earlier restore point; wait, I can’t do that 'cause I can’t access restore!:cool:

Any ideas?

Thanks

Nero works well and is easy to get;)

I have made a back up copy of my drive with it I was having a virus problem I succeeded in copying my entire drive to CD’s very easily( virus included:D) I later fixed the the stupid add virus.

Nero!!

i got roxio for free, and it creates a DVD and menu just fine.I thought XP had CD burning built in…you just pop in a blank and it asks if you want to make a data or music, you drag and drop, and then burn it.

I upgraded from ME to XP Pro…should it still have it?

I currently use AVS Disc Creator. It’s freeware, and compact.

gotta try that one too…

But I’m really happy with this freeware one too :

–edit : Sorry, you already tried. Didnt read well. I have no issues with it though.

you cant reinstall it?

maybe you need to look into the registry, or some tsr proccess/service there…But only if you know how to do it safely. I dont know, I havent found that problem.

Thanks for the replies guys, but I fixed the problem

I downloaded the Windows Install cleaner utitlity and was able to remove the installation data, which was what was preventing me from installing it.

Then I reinstalled CDBurnerXP Pro.

Thanks!

What is a good free one for burning iso’s?

that one cdburnerxp.se actually burns isos, and makes bootables even.

OK, well, thanks for all the replies guys.

CD burning is working fine now on XP.

Now problem is getting it to work under Ubuntu.

I’ve tried K3b, which worked once, then crapped out on me, go figure…

Then I Xfburn, which APPEARED to work but didn’t!!

Go double figure that one…

How do I know it didn’t work?

Because:

  1. I tried rebooting to see if it would start up in Live CD mode

  2. I went to My Computer and checked the CD drive to see how much space was on the disc and it said it was empty.

Anyone else have burning problems?

Try “Brasero” it works for me.

apt-get install brasero
