I think that there’s a good tutorial on creating a 1829 steam locomotive and tender car using Blender 2.55 on this link: http://gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html
I went through the tutorial today and did the drive train, wheels and frames and I had a few problems such as linking the drive train parts together and there are a few mistakes in the tutorial such as Shift-F instead of ALT-F to create faces between selected vertex.
I had problems trying to do UV mapping on a piece of track that I’m creating for Auran Trainz. The trackbed is created using a cube with three of six faces removed. I used the unwrap command to map mstand_tex.tga image to the trackbed. Either there’re problems with Blender 2.55 or I made mistakes trying to do UV mapping. No matter how I change the UV mapping coodinates, rendering the trackbed shows the entire image on the trackbed, not part of the image on the trackbed. The top of the trackbed is supposed to have the part of the image from 0.15 to 0.60 on the “X” axis and the sides of the trackbed is supposed to have the part of the image from 0.0 to 0.15 on the “X” axis. Most of the Blender tutorials are created for Blender 2.49 and older. Even the “Noob to Pro” tutorial isn’t updated for Blender 2.5 and newer. Any suggestions?
