Goop animation - Google SoC Displace modifier

Hi,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIvPhaTJkCs is an animation made with the new Displace modifier (now in Blender CVS).

The blend is at http://members.optusnet.com.au/~bbatt/displacetest07b.blend

Cheers,
Artificer

Great, and sickening :]
I HAVE to check out that modifier CVS, is it in the modification stack?
You think you can put it after, say an array or curve deform?

It looks like someone did something similar a while ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsDDqAAfjYA

Heh, that’s pretty cool. I guess they used the Displace texture mapping technique.

Yes, and yes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fao6BRwNfEo was made with the displace modifier applied after an array and a curve (blend at http://members.optusnet.com.au/~bbatt/hose02.blend ).

Artificer

Wow, that’s ill! o_O

HOw is the diplace modifier different that applying a texture as displacement?

Probably because you can apply it to the mesh and see it in the 3d window without rendering…
But i might be wrong, i havent tried it…

that blend file doesn´t show that effect in my blender… where I can download that displace-modifier or is it in the 2.42 already?

Hey Artificer, what kind of texture did you use to animate the bubbling surface? I can’t work out which to use for that kind of motion, although I have had great success parenting a null and moving the texture.

Also how have you made the sides static?
