To start off, i don’t exactly have great GPU, I have vega 7 integrated graphics on my processor, but what i have is functionable and so far it hasn’t caused any problems, well, until now. For no apparent reason recently even just moving my camera makes my GPU usage shoot up to 90 or 100% even though that never happened before, now this is such a common occurance i can’t work with blender anymore because it crashes so soften.
I though tit might be hte file but i created just a file with a cube on it and again even just moving teh cube shoots my usage to 50-60%.
Again, i understand my GPU is not good, but when i first got the PC it did what i intended wich was learning how to use blender and then getting a propper GPU when i started to get the hang of it. But now it bemage unisable as even just oving vertex around seems enough to trigger a crash and i lose the little progress i did.
The model doesn’t have any textures, geometry nodes doesn’t have any(applied) modifier. I was just working on modelling it so far,
Anyone got any idea why this might be happening now all of a sudden? I’m using Blender 4.3.0 and am on an AMD PC.
(model)
Thing is, this wasn’t a problem when i installed blender. It worked just fine. I was wondering/wanted to know if this was some sort of bug or if there is any knoeledge on this happening before. I’m 100% sure this wasn’t a problem for me before, cuz right now i tried doing anoother model just to test, and in that model i used the re-mesh modifier just to model something at random, the moment i started lowering the number on the modifier the program crashed.
For a very quick guess, if you have GPU subdivisions turned on in preferences (either doing it yourself, or a recent Blender update that turned it on by default), then given the character on screen, and the very week GPU, I could maybe see that having an impact.
If you disable the subdiv modifier and move the camera, does the GPU jump to 100% still?
Otherwise, could be some driver issue and/or Blender support issue (not sure where Vega 7 is on the supported list). I don’t think Blender 4.3 had Vulkan, so I assume it’s still using OpenGL, but didn’t 4.3 have some patch updates before going to 4.4
You could try the very latest LTS 4.5.2 (can just download and unpack a portable zip version to test).
Also, what add-ons you got running, is it all factory default? If not it could be a specific add-on issue.
I’ll go chekc if that thing in particular is turned on. Altho i’m not particularly sure. I dunno if me having downloaded an older version(cuz when i first installed blender 4.4 didn’t work on my PC) I would still be getting updates to that version.

Yesm and that is not just a thing with this file in specific, I tried creating a new file with just the default block and although less, if i start moving the camera about even just kinda fast the usage quickly jups up to something like 60%
For addons… As far as i can remember tha only one i have is PolyQuill(i believe that is the name) because it was recommended to be by people on Blender guru’s discord as it was supposed to be a good Addon for re-meshing
Hmm, it’s possible that any Vega support was partly or fully removed from Blender after 4.3, think I ready that it was becoming unsupported by AMD and getting very buggy.
In general, Blender doesn’t update itself, so you need to grab any later versions manually. Given that it seems 4.4 onwards isn’t an option, you can get at least 4.3.2 from here: https://download.blender.org/release/Blender4.3/
Outside of that, I’m not sure, if it was working fine (well as fine as an old iGPU can), then in theory something changed, Windows update, iGPU drivers or some setting somewhere.
If 4.3.2 still crashes, then maybe if you can capture/find some sort of crash report, it may give a clue. I mean its possible there’s some other hardware issue, like RAM or storage, etc. Is anything else crashing or giving strange glitches or anything?
and… yeah my PC did go through an update recently, i did update it again last night so i’ll see if the problem fixes itself. For ram i have 16GB and even though it seems to be at like 70% usage all of the time for no reason blender still has 5ish gigs to use.
Memory i have 60gb on my ssd and a side HD with 500gb, i still have 160gb left in there.
