I have returned from the depths of insanity and crap to bring you another thing.
So, I recently spent 100% of my budget for a new PC on a graphics card, this graphics card is a mouthwatering GTX 1080, 8GB. Yummy.
Question v
Why in the world does the default Blender Render not allow you to use your GPU to render? If there is a tool/addon to allow this, please, let me know, I was unable to find anything related to this CRIPPLING issue anywhere online.
Question ^
Personally, I really, really dislike Cycles and don’t wish to use it in any, way, shape or form. I love how bare-bones Blender Render is to allow you to build your own lighting, shading, and bloom from the ground up to your own liking, without programming! I have absolutely mastered Blender Render, but despite that I shall perfect it even more. Thanks in advance, if there is no addon/mod for using your GPU to render in default Blender Render, could one be made? I would assume it would be easy as porting Cycle’s selectable compute device options to Blender Render, right?
I have, but this doesn’t mean I’m familiar with the source code. Are you incredibly vaguely, trying to tell me that the engine is not physically capable of rendering using the GPU? How can such flexible software not?
Well crep. I would imagine Blender Render is built off of the original versions and is DEEPLY rooted into Blender’s code. Everything is nudging me to learn programming but, I dislike/10. I will just have to get myself to learn C++ and Python one of these days. I guess I learn stuff I really don’t want to learn better with someone else.
This won’t happen as Blender Render is not being actively developed anymore, just maintained.
One reason given is that it just consists of too much patched up code and work around’s over the years and it makes it very hard to work on now. It was one of the reasons Cycles was developed as a totally fresh start.
I have really liked using Blender Render too. In the recent past Cycles was just very slow for animation rendering. With the latest speed ups, especially the new denoise, Cycles has now become incredibly fast to render with. So it looks as if there is not a speed advantage to using Blender Render anymore over Cycles.
But you may just get your wish, as it was said at the last Blend conference I think that the aim for the new view port for 2.8 is to have something approaching Blender Render quality that works in the view port in real time.
who told you you need coding for cycles? you can use it, but its FAR from required. for the visual learner, nodes are the best thing since GUI.
in cycles, the computer does most of the work, your just changing colors mostly. sure it may be a few more setup steps, but return is far greater. thats what custom starter files are for
I said, that I would probably have to program my own BLENDER RENDER GPU selection into Blender, not “I have to know how to code to use Cycles at all” That would just be silly now.
Also;
That would be freggin’ sweet.
But yeah, I select Blender Render over Cycles because of the huge amount of control and customization Blender Render has. I can get the exact result I’m going for without doing a backflip.
thats what happens when you stay awake for 24 hours :spin:
ok, ill admit to BI being more customizable, since i work alot in the bge, which basically the same thing. however, the only real back-flipping ive had to do in cycles is with fighting color management to get my linear colors.
setting the diffuse bounces to 0 gets you pretty close to internal.
well, i guess practicing necromancy is no causal hobby
