I’ve been out of the loop of computer hardware as of late, and I was looking to build a new pc but was told that the current available hardware isn’t really worth a rebuild from what I’m currently working with:
2600k @ 4.4
560ti oc 1gb SLI
P8P67 DELUXE
16GB DDR3 1600
WIN 7 x64
The 1gb of vram is really limiting me as far as rendering goes … but I don’t want to buy a new card just for vram. If I’m going to spend money it needs to be way better than 560ti’s in SLI.
I want to hear what you’d suggest for a GPU upgrade. I was looking at the 980, but after checking out the BMW benchmark tests… 560ti SLI beats a single 980?? I’m rendering it at 1min25s on GPU. The problem with that test is a lot of people change the settings to render faster, so I’m not sure if the data is 100% accurate.
Any ideas? Money isn’t really an issue, my max is ~$900.
Im saving up to Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 as this will be Nvidias flagship this year. It has all the features I need for CGI and VFX. If you really want to go big you can get a K40 workstation card from Nvidia. But GTX 1080 would fill every requirements for CGI and VFX.
