gramophone

Decided to have a go at using cycles to render an image, planning to add a few vinyls and some other objects to the scene.

Im having a few problems with the textuing however and good do with some tips.

  • Making a more realistic glossy wood texture
  • Making a better bronze metal texture

I know the texture on the table isn’t good but i just quickly placed it there this now to add something to the scene

If anyone has any tips for me i would very much appreciate it and as always C & C are welcome

thanks in advance

small update

i think this one is much better and the textures are improved a lot

C&C Welcome

i like it  although i think it could be improved with some better lighting…try and get some nice shadows…adding a sun lamp will help greatly!

Yes i agree, my plan is improve the lighting as well but since this is my first time using cycles and i’m still trying to figure out exactly how the lamps react with the rendering system, at the moment i simply have a single emission plane so it needs a proper overhaul.

another update, added some vinyls and played with the lighting a bit although im still not happy with this!

tip for sun lamp in cycles…in the lamp settings set the size to .050 or something, that way you will get good shadows. Also click on use nodes in the lamp settings
