Shouldn’t this also be possible with the internal renderer of Blender (ztransp… / aplha option) ?

Yes I guess so.
But I mainly use blender for architectural vizualisation, so this tutorial is aimed at this : producing the most realistic “grass carpet” as possible, with an unbiased renderer.

Yes, you’re right again ! This is a quick method that works for most of the viewpoints, but not in top view.
Eventually, you can model a patch of grass and duplicate it, and you get that.
Maybe in the next tutorial !
