Gravity Probe B nearly ready for launch.

Gravity Probe B,
the satellite that will test Einstine’s General Theory of Relativity by directly measuring the curvature of space-time around the earth, has completed it’s acceptance review and been delivered to Vandenberg Air Force Base
in preparation for launch this November.

This project’s been in the works for decades!
Check the stats on the instrument!

is that were you get 2 atomic clocks 1 on earth and one on the satilite and then fly the satalite at great speed around the earth and then measeure the difference between the clocks.

havent they already proved it on a plane?

This is a new experiment.
The core of the system is four nearly perfect gyroscopes onboard the satellite. Check out the site it’s fascinating!

Isn’t that related to the “frame-dragging” phenomenon, or however it’s called?

Martin

Yes. The experiment will attempt to measure frame-dragging and the curvature of local space-time simultaneously.

frame-dragging: There’s a theory that not only does space-time curve around the earth but it also twists slightly from the earth’s rotation.

sounds like fun.

except it will create a whole new pile of FAT jokes LOL.

“your mammas so fat she bends space time”

ha ha ha i copyright that joke from the year 2003 onwards
