gravity - very basic question

sorry for asking, I was searching a long time in manual and forums, so:

I need gravity to affect an object.
I’ve experienced that enable-ing “cloth” or “soft body” physics work, but I need a simple “rigid” (i.e no cloth or soft body) object falling with gravity, so how can I get it working ?

Rigid body physics needs to be accomplished through the Blender Game Engine. I’m not sure why this is so, it does seem to complicate things, but that’s what I understand to be the case, not having actually done any rigid body physics yet myself.

Another option, if falling per gravity is the only goal, is to use a simple non-rendering Cloth object like a plane to do the physics part, and make your renderable object a child of the “physics object” via vertex parenting.
