Great writhing landscapes!

I’m having an… interesting… problem. I made a landscape by extruding from a plane and doing various make face operations, and now have a lovely little hilly island. Trouble is, the hills rise and fall as if it was a rubber bag tightly packed with bugs or something equally gross. I’m not kidding, the hills actually appear from nowhere, then sink back into the ground, or the regular hills increase in height. It looks awful. The problem seems only to happen when the camera angle is changing.

What’s going on?!

Hi

it’s probably a clipping problem???!!!
Make your object much smaller or go to the Buttons window and raise the ClipEnd : value.

Try this:

Select terrain and go to edit mode. Select all vertices and press Ctrl-T.

Sometimes when quad faces don’t lay fully on a plane, they can warp out of shape. If that’s the problem, then making all the faces triangles will fix it.

You are a wise man, wiseman. The landscape no longer squirms as if it was alive.
