Congrats to the Krita team at KO GmbH. Less than two weeks after their submission Krita has been greenlit. I can hardly wait to have it available via Steam.

i have a question,
what makes Krita on Steam better than just installing it the normal way?
im pretty sure its about getting more people to see it. its kinda like looking through the app store on your phone and finding something awesome just because you were bored
The main reason is indeed getting more publicity(which, frankly was already achieved by this campaign alone, seriously, Krita-use has quadruppled on tumblr alone), but also to find a more stable income because Boudewijn believes the best thing for Krita right now is to maintain it’s paid developer.
Krita on steam will be pay-for, but in return you get intergration with the steam-cloud. So easy preset sharing, but also having a drawing on one device easily transferable to the other, and a couple of other things.
Good for Krita, I am currently in the process of learning this app. So far I love it, I am no expert with its brush engine but man its pretty good. I was using mypaint a lot last year but Krita is like mypaint with all the stuff that pissed me off fixed.
It has great potential. I just hope they continue to optimize the windows version. 2.7 was very bad, 2.8 is becoming better, 2.8+ hope to see some speed ups.
Because apt-get krita doesn’t work on Windows.

bad news is I installed latest version and lost all my custom brushes 
I think it’s pretty fast as it is - when I work with a4 sizes @ 600ppi it works smooth for me. Much smoother, I have to say, than Photoshop. Photoshop’s opengl is horrible in comparison.
