I want to link/append a blend file into another blend file.
This does not work entirely somehow. Not everything is linked, it seems I cant activate all settings, like color, shades etc. only the shape and the movement (xyz location positions)
How is that possible? I used group but I dont see the colors in the default screen, though if I render it I see color.
to make it local I used L but still no result.
So is it necessary in the ‘blend from’ file that the default mesh shows colors and other settings and how is that done?
There’s a slight difference in Linking and Appending. When you Link to another object, you can change the scale and position and location and work a right, but the materials and mesh data is pretty much set. On the other hand, when you append, it copies everything from the other file and allows you to change whatever you want in the new file. Both have their uses.
There is a difference in the render result and other screens like the default or compositing. When you render a scene you get the complete picture with colors, rigged stuff etc.
But in the default screen I see a grey object, no colors nothing.
In the youtube examples the process of groupoing/linking appending is explained, but all object they used before starting to group or link/append had at least a color.
Is this necessary; to get a fully rigged object usable, in another blend file?
