Hi, I have modelled a chair, I want to reuse it in another scene, but i need all part of the chair, so i tried with Ctrl+G but i figured out that all parts don’t work like one single, I mean, every part is still independent, so my question is:
what is the way to “fusion” all parts of the chair and export it like one single object?
I think the best is to create an empty, to make it parent of all your chair elements (that you can name “chair_whatsoever”, so you can later easily locate them), rename it “chair” or whatever you like. Then when you want to append it, you have to select “chair” and all the children elements altogether, they will be appended with the correct parenting.
The way I do it is to add all the mesh or objects to a group. Then move them to a non-visible layer.
Then pop back to layer-1 or your main layer and create an empty.
Activate Dupligroup for the empty, then type in the name of your group.
The empty acts as a single representative of the group.
Now, when you select any part of the group, the whole group will select as a single object. This emulates 3DSMax style grouping.
You can always pop back to the non-visible layer and make arrangements to your group at any time.
