Is it possible to keyframe the ‘Physics’ values of particle systems to make blades of grass grow out of a plane? Is there another way to do this?
Thanks in advance.

Specifically, the Normal and Acceleration values.
If you’re using Blender 2.5 it is possible to animate near everything. Just hit " i " on an input value to key-frame it. Normal doesn’t seem to be working for me. but under the render options in the particle settings there is a setting for timing adjusting the END setting will very the length.
You can always scale along the Y axis only to make things grow. Simple old school.
Thanks for the suggestions. I’m using 2.49, which as far as I know can’t keyframe those values.
@Atom: This works, surprisingly. I discarded it as an option initially because, if you resize a mesh which is emitting a Hair particle system, the length of the strands resize while you’re scaling, but when you click to set it they default to the original length. That is, the mesh is now smaller but the particle lengths remain just as they were.
I tried instead to animate the scaling to see what would happen and the strands now scale along with the mesh. So it works now, but that’s kind of peculiar.
