(hey nice link !) I read that the script was done in 2004, with blender 2.33
do you try with this blender version ?
http://download.blender.org/release/

Thanks for archive it but did not work and it gave a dead link to z modeler. Just tell me how to use it for editing cars not skeleton human models.

Do I need a older version blender? I have 3.1.1.

Someone help me with editing gta III cars. Thanks:)

looks like you need the older version yes.

Blender is not that easy that we could explain in one topic how to tweak models. Did you check out some tutorials? Google is your friendin that case  Many good basic tutorials.

Greetings, Robert

P.S.: This should be the right version:

http://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.33/blender-2.33-windows.exe

Is there any video tutorial?

I downloaded blender 2.31 as mentioned into the package of gta models.
Still I did not managed to open a gta model in blender.

Thanks in advance for helping me out:)

well there is no “all-in-one” car modelling tutorial (afaik). You at least have to know the basics for most of the tutorials. Check blender.org or the BlenderWiki for good tutorials. In addition to that, car modelling for games is way different than working for renders. I never went further into modelling for gta but I knwo that you have to set the physics-boundaries for the crash-model and model the different crash-parts aswell. so you should read more into the gta-style of modelling. What you need to do, What programs you need, etc etc etc.

But If you ask me, I’d look into the gta-forums for tutorials…

Check my first post I posted a link of an existing GTA III car model I want to edit. Presuming that it is a GTA III model it should have all the car crash part in it right? So the first thing is realy

Guess what I started from the gta-forums. They told me that blender is a free 3d modeling tool which allows you to import GTA DFF files. They even told me to go to www.blender.org and to ask there.

KRAV MAGA - “So that one may walk in peace”

KRAV MAGA - “So that one may not have to walk in the path of pieces?”

Thanks bib brother but the only think I want to do with blender is importing a existing GTA DFF model.

Please help me just with one thing. To open the DFF (GTA 3D model) in BLender.
Link up with any You tubeTutorial or please post the instructions here.

Thanks all of you

The first thing is really… stupid? All I said was that it’s not as easy to tell you what you need to do if you want to tweak the models. Even if you have all the crash pieces and stuff you still have them to tweak them on your own. You said you want us to tell you how to tweak cars for GTA III. You won’t find anybody telling you what you have to do step by step. - If you think you already know it all why do you ask the damn questions … Go and google it yourself then - it’s not that hard I did it some time ago too.

I even provided you the 2.33 download (which was stated as the presumably right version) - if you still download 3.1.1 and 2.31 …

You didn’t even tell us what you’ve tried / did so far. Unfortunally I gave my cristalball away for christmas last year… so if you want help don’t expect us to guess.

KRAV MAGA - “So that one may not have to walk in the path of pieces?”
I’m still trying to find out what you wanted to tell me with that !?

I hate when people like you think they can get everything they want on a golden plate.
Greetings, Robert

P.S.: I have some magic input right now … Did you run the Py-script when you’ve openend blender? Or did you jsut place it in the scripts folder and expected that blender then will load the file? Damn why do I even bother helping you?!

Chill out dude. You seem stressed out. I googled the whole day loong and all the time I ended up in the stupid GTA forums and broken links to the gta model import/export

I even provided you the 2.33 download (which was stated as the presumably right version) - if you still download 3.1.1 and 2.31 …
Okay okay I made a mistake because the read me text stated 2.31 I will download 2.33 from your link

It doesent matter I dont do christmass or believe in the cristmass spirit. I also gave away my shinning balls. But not to worry we still have are own balls to keep are future wifes happy:D right?

[/QUOTE]It is a dialog from a movie. I myself don’t know what that means, I was asking you? But I was thinking if a professional fighter faces you in the park just unleash a pitbull on him.

I hate it when people like you think they can get everything they want on a golden plate.

I like you brother.

P.S.: I have some magic input right now … Did you run the Py-script when you’ve openend blender? Or did you jsut place it in the scripts folder and expected that blender then will load the file?
Ooh no. You know in the first post I told you I am a noob. Give me another day and I will tell what I have done so far.

Damn why do I even bother helping you?!
Because I like you…

Hm okay then I misunderstood your reply, sorry about that, but to me it sounded like the typical “Yeah yeah, whatever, gimme what I want”-type of cmt.

Well if you have the script in the scripts folder of your blender base folder then switch to the script editor (you do that by pressing on the grid button in the lower left corner of the 3d windowm and selecting the “Scripts Window” line). Now you should have an menu dialog named “scripts” at the bottom of the screen. if you click on it a list with all available py-scripts should show up - I guess the gta importer should show up under the import-dialog. If it’s there click on it (if not you placed the py-script in the wrong folder i guess). After that there should come up an import dialog.

greetings, Robert

P.S.: I still don’t get what you mean with the Krav Maga stuff. It’s a self-defence technique I practise and the quote is from it’s creator Imrich Lichtenfeld.

Like which menu in the lower left corner I press? I tried all without success!
Please download the image and paint a red circle on the icon or text I have to click.
Then reupload the image for free on ImageShack. (no need to register just upload and post the link here)

If it’s there click on it (if not you placed the py-script in the wrong folder i guess).
There is only 1 folder in the program files for blender 2.33 without any sub folder!!! What script folder are you talking about? A hidden folder somewhere else?

Please repost the image with a red arrow or a circle on the thing I have to click. Thanks

Don’t get confused if your Blender menu looks different it should work nevertheless.

It is totally different. There is no step 1. There is no step2. How can I proceed?

I have to ask you a favor. Please dude install version 2.33 and post screen shot of that. Note you dont have to uninstall your existing version. You can install it in a separate directory. Thanks for all your efforts…

I didn’t wanted to show off but I am a class programmer in Blitz and at the same time noob with modeling. I am planning to program the perfect GTA clone but it will not be so perfect without car models right? If you help me out I will credit you in my game.

it only looks different because that’s my personal user interface but it should work nevertheless the same way in 2.33.

  1. Right above your Grid-View (The 3d view) there is the headline with File, Add, etc… Click on it’s lower border (which seperates it from the 3d view) - You can tell if you are in the right spot when the cursor changes into a Double arrow and the headline gets highlighted a bit - and hold the mouse-button. Now you can pull it down and aboce you should see a lot of fancy option buttons.
  2. Search for the “File Paths” Button, it’s the most right one and click on it.
  3. From here on you should be abled to follow my former instructions.

greetings, Robert

P.S.: I’d prefer not to get mentioned in the credits

Oh a secrete passage found it. Thanks

    Done
  1. Now new problems start.

And what problems???

http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/9075/finalc.th.png
When I press scripts only 4 sub possibilities appear:

*Update menus
When clicking this one its empty

*Misc
This one is also empty

*Export
Do I have to select something here?

*Import
Do I have to select something here?

What went wrong?
Did I miss something?
Is it that I have the wrong version python installed?
Could the following error be the cause?
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/6023/problemb.png
This error message comes at the start up of blender in a seperate screen. And If I close it also blender shuts down.

google gave me this:

"sys_init:warning - no sitedirs added from site module."

Those error messages all point in the same direction, a proper Python installation could not be found by Blender. Either you don’t have Python installed, or you have and outdated version. At the time of this writing, Blender requires Python 2.3.

The error is non fatal, meaning that Blender will still open and work, but you’ll be in trouble if you try to run a script that requires Python functions not already provided by Blender (file import/export scripts are good candidates for that).

So I’d suggest you try a newer python version.
I’d also suggest that you try to install the newest (stable) blender version which would be 2.49.2 and try to run the gta-script with that version.

P.S.: You also should check your previous posts. Something went wrong with some of your linked pictures.
