GTX 470 CUDA working in OS X Lion?

Hello!

Has anyone got the 2.63 Blender Cycles working on Mac with CUDA? It did work at some point (when the CPU/GPU option was in the render settings). Now there’s no option to even select computing device. Is it just in a custom build? Im running 10.7.3 hackintosh and 2.63.0 64-bit Blender for 10.6.

Thanks!

I’m having the same problem with:

  • Blender 2.63
  • an Nvidia 560GTX (compute capability 2.1)
  • the Nvidia 295.53 driver

Pixu, what driver version are you on?

Apparently Mac builds don’t have CUDA built in. So you have to get CUDA Toolkit and blender will build it. Still no CUDA in blender though - after updating all gfx & cuda drivers (and 10.7.4), Blender wouldn’t let me choose CUDA.

Also, always after reboot, CUDA-Z would not recognize the device - until I installed the CUDA driver again. But still no luck with graphics as Blender computing device.

Solution: Blender 2.63 lets me choose CUDA after installing 4.0.50 Driver instead of 4.2.7. Haven’t tried other CUDA driver versions. GPU Driver Version: 1.3.4.0 (270.00.00f06) OS X 10.7.4. Have to reinstall CUDA driver after every boot though.
