GTX 600-700's Kepler for 300K+ modeling?

Anyone using GTX 600-700’s Kepler for 300K+ modeling?

KS

Please state the nature of your GPU emergency.

Everybody does 300k+ modelling, on keplers and pretty much everything else. 300k is really not a whole lot of polys.

Unless you mean that as degrees Kelvin. Which also means pretty much everyone is doing it as that’s pretty much room temperature.

Thanks Mad,

Love ur sense humor!

Im looking at doing some game models “ships” for Star Citizen (CryEngine3).

You shouldn’t have any problems, though I’d advise to keep parts of the ship separate for performance reasons. I’m assuming the 300k polys is your target lowpoly, not the highpoly. You see in edit mode when you’re pulling a vertex VBOs aren’t supported. So it’s literally uploaded to the GPU 60 times per second which is likely to murder any kind of hardware at 300k. Just join all the pieces just before export.

Also make sure you have a working import/export pipeline before starting. AFAIR CryEngine is partial to some special flavor of Collada though I can’t remember the specifics.

Thanks again!

Looking at building a new system in fall.
Maybe a IB-E 6core, 8_dimms, a 780/3GB and a 27" 1440p.

And again thanks Mad. And for the modeling info. Im stil a modeling noob.
