I had this idea for a render, a guitarist at a concert in first person. Worked on it for awhile. Tell me what you think.
I’d say great idea, but from experience, I’d also say you have your work cut out for you getting the fingers right.
(See “A Sad Sad Song”)
that pretty cool!..really unique, get some better lighting so we can see abit more…then u can ose the lighting when youre almost done
Sorry I took so long, my other computer got a virus,
freen, yeah, I do think the fingers will be hard.
blender spartan, I do think i need more lighting, but not to much, I need to find the balance place to keep the mood ; )
Okay, heres an update, added some lighting, changed the shirt, and moved the fingers in a better arrangement, I think.
Next I’ll add some more detail.
C&C is welcomed.

I know, “reviving an old thread” and stuff, but its my thread and I can do what ever I want with it:). Anyway worked on it some more, added the lights, some amps and made some smaller improvements here and there.
Just speaking as a musician here, the guitar amps would most likely be behind the player and not right on the edge of the stage. You could put some monitors (small speakers that aim at the player) in front of him.
You should also re-route the cords and plugs, all that stuff running across the stage would be a real hazard.
Looking good!
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing…(shh… not really but lets keep that between us:eyebrowlift:) I modeled some small amps and textured them. Moved the big amps to the side/rear of the guy, and moved the cords slightly. I’m reworking the DOF right now and thinking about putting an other guitarist to the left of him.
Tried the other guitarist, didn’t work,
What could I do to improve it?
If i was you I would make rework all the materials on the guitar and his sleeves. Also I would make the left hand in more of a easier position… CLICK ME!!! You could also make him playing a solo?
Also you could model a pick and make him hold the pick…Right now it doesnt look like he is playing
Anyways really lovely work!
Or use the good ol’ powerchord =D
Yeah! (No!!!) I’m going with the solo. Changed the shirt material, slightly changed the arm mat. and put a pick (cant believe I missed the pick:rolleyes:) going to experiment with the hand, see if I can get a better placement.
Usually you don’t use your middle finger when playing solos (ouch!) at least I don’t. I use my index and ring finger the most.
Really? Huh, I play with all my fingers on solos, (I’m a guitarist in a band [didn’t say anything because I wanted an unbiased review]) but I agree on the finger placement, (looks like he has arthritis right now:o) I’m adjusting the fingers as I speak(type). but placing fingers on a guitar is becoming a nightmare for me!
ah… Done, moved the fingers so he is in a more relaxed position. Any other ideas, my brains not being creative tonight.
heh, i as well am a guitarist.
seems like all 3d artists are, huh?
hmm…
it looks great, except that he has some long fingernails!
hmm…
maybe somehow blur the strings?
aaand, if he’s doing a solo, shouldn’t his right hand index finger be strumming on the bottom string?..
and maybe have him be holding the whammy with his pinky or somethin?
thats what i do in a solo…
but, it really looks great!
o yeah. maybe texture the audience a little?
Yeah, seams like if your artistic in one area it can be applied to other areas, like guitars:D
Blurring the strings is a great idea, and I cant believe I missed the picking hand’s position, like i said before my brain’s on stand-by:p
WHAMMY!!! YEAH!!! 'nuf said.
