Gun Barrels

Hey guys, so I’m making an F-86 Sabre, and I’m having trouble with the gun barrels. How would I add two barrels going into the mesh? I tried it with boolean, but it’s very messy, and If I tried to edit the mesh itself, and move the vertices around to the desired locations to form a teardrop shape indent, and a barrel going into the fuselage, it wouldn’t look nearly as correct. Any help guys?

I suggest you show a reference photo of the problem area so we have a better idea of what you want to do.

The Penfinity video linked by ajcdfin still shows at least one good way to do it. The gun port openings are a circle projected onto the surface from a front orthographic view. Then it extrudes into the model from there on the Y-axis. Nothing overly complicated.
