I have a head model with particle hair on it and for some reason it renders with part of it cut off. There is nothing in the way, nothing hidden, there is only the head, the light and the camera in the scene. What could cause this?
I saw that same thing a few years ago, I eventually had to append the head into a new blend.
Did you ever find out what was causing it? It’s affecting the materials, making them look all gray.
Check the clipping of your camera, maybe? Does this also occur if you only use a sphere with a hair system? Did you check “emitter” in the render tab of your particle settings? Could you post your particle settings?
