Primarily, I am curious why my hair particles will not comb properly, even in wire frame mode. I have made sure there are no collisions enabled so I’m not quite sure why the particles will not behave.
Also, as a side question, how can I create a hair particle system that mirrors itself on the x axis on a mesh that is also mirrored in the x axis? I tried checking the box “x mirror” in particle mode but this did not do anything.
Hi.
Go to Object mode. In Particles Tab you press Free Edit button and accept the changes by clicking on the warning message that appears. With your head/cube selected, you press Ctrl+A and select “Scale”. Set up Hair to your liking and try again.
Object containing Hair needs to have Scale properly applied for it to work correctly.
Could you explain better what is not working there?
What I told you is for combing acting weird/not working properly.
For mirror modifier, you must activate in Particles tab “Use modifier Stack” under Emission section before starting to comb. But I am not sure if that this is what you are looking for. For the X-Mirror option to work correctly you must apply exactly the steps that are explained here:: https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/physics/particles/mode.html#mirror
Mirror option from step 2 is in Specials menu (W key shortcut)
Well, first I’m trying to figure out the comb not working properly. First I tried to press Free Edit, followed by applying the scale to my mesh. But the hair particles still do not behave.
I tried reducing the distance, but it finally worked when I just turned off the emitter.
Thank you very much for your help!
One more question, do you know if there’s a way I can control or delete individual children hairs?
I like enabling them because it makes the hair look fuller, but then sometimes they get in the way of the face.
