Hair creation in the Game Engine?

Is hair supported in the Game Engine?

look up hair cards,

they are sprites, lots of em, and they are performance hungry.

So the actual particle system isn’t any use yet. Okay. I guess UV mapping hair texture like photorealism is another option.

Actual hair particle systems have never been around in games because, in rendering, it is one of the mist performance hungry things.
Only just recently nVidia came out with Hairworks, which looks to be a hair particle system.

actually, soft body hair has been around for quite some time,

it’s just a pain to get right…
